Country saw 72 per cent increase in e-waste in 5 years: Government

India's e-waste problem is growing. E-waste surged 72% in five years, hitting 17.51 lakh tonnes recently. Discarded electronics like smartphones and refrigerators are piling up. The government notified new e-waste management rules in 2022. These rules aim to protect the environment and public health. The rules cover 21 electronic items.
