Pakistan ex-PM Imran Khan's graft conviction suspended, but no quick release
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's conviction on corruption charges has been suspended by a court, but he will not be released as he is being detained in another case. Khan, who has been at the center of political turmoil in Pakistan since his ouster in April 2022, was imprisoned on August 5 and barred from contesting elections for five years. Khan's legal team appealed the conviction, arguing that he was not given the right to defend himself.
