Madhumita Shukla murder case: SC refuses to stay release of ex-UP minister Amarmani Tripathi

The Supreme Court has refused to stop the release of former Uttar Pradesh legislator Amarmani Tripathi from jail. Tripathi and his wife, Madhumani Tripathi, were granted premature release due to "good conduct" by the state government, although they are currently receiving treatment in a Gorakhpur hospital. The couple had been serving life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla in 2003. Shukla's sister has questioned the release, stating that the couple has actually been in the hospital for the past 10 years.
