Shah speaks to West Bengal Governor over Ram Navami violence

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, spoke with the West Bengal Governor, C.V. Ananda Bose, to gather details about the violent clashes in Howrah during Ram Navami celebrations. Several vehicles were torched and shops ransacked during the clashes on Thursday evening. State police said that several people had been detained, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warned that strict action would be taken against the perpetrators of the violence. The BJP has criticised Banerjee, with BJP MP Locket Chatterjee suggesting that Hindus in the state were “under threat”.
