CDS needs to focus on reforms, planning and capability-building

As rightly prioritised by the new CDS, the formation of the theatre commands needs to be high on his agenda. Even today, many, including those in the Air Force, are lukewarm towards the idea. The Air Force is perhaps rightly concerned about the distribution of limited air assets between the theatres. Building air power is a matter of priority and the government needs to pull out all stops to expedite acquisitions which should lead to a massive push for domestic manufacturing.
