Pandya was injured often enough to reduce him from being an allrounder to a specialist batsman. And, as a batsman, he was struggling to counter fast bowlers when they dug the ball in short and targeted his ribs. Pandya could neither move inside the line and slice the ball through the off-side or get across and pull it through square with any degree of consistency.
