Shipping minister targets zero waiting time at major ports

In FY20, the average time before a cargo ship was berthed at a major port was around 0.95 days. The pre-berthing period is the wait time for a ship before it enters its berth at a port. According to official estimates, the container turnaround time at major Indian ports is about 26.5 hours. This has come down from around 45 hours in 2013-14.
