District court grants bail to Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani, slams Assam police

"I agree with the contention of senior advocate for the petitioner and hold that this is not the case where custodial interrogation of the accused is necessary and the learned chief judicial magistrate Barpeata should not have remanded the accused to police custody even for a single day," judge Aparesh Chakraborty said while granting bail.
